Hey all you Cool Cats and Kittens out there! How's your Monday going? Ours is going pretty well here at Casa de la Voss. Since I don't have much work on Mondays, I was able to get most of what I needed to done this morning. Then, for the rest of the day, I've been helping the kids get ahead on their work for the week. I think we're going to try to do closer to a 4 day work week. Tuesday-Thursday are when I'm busy, so if I can get a lot of the kids' work done on Monday and a moderate amount done on Tuesday-Thursday, then the kids and I can have Fridays off to play. Connor worked really hard today working through all of his online assignments. Avery got a few of her online assignments done as well, but hers need a little more guidance as her Art, Music, PE, Counselor, and Library lessons are a required part of her day and they aren't on the same platform as the rest of her activities. Fortunately, with Connor and Avery being so close in age, their lessons for those classes are the same, so even though they're optional for Connor, he's getting them done as well.
Today we took a walk around out neighborhood and even took the dogs with us! Connor rode his bike. Avery walked the dogs for one lap, and rode her bike for the second one. The dogs were very enthusiastic and pulling on the leash during the first lap. By the second lap they were going a lot slower. Michael said we needed to try to go for a walk every day it's nice. He joined us today for our walk too! I wasn't sure if he would, but when he said yes I said, "Well If you can't take a walk with your family when you want to, what's the point, really, in working from home?" He was at a good stopping point, so that helped as well. It was nice getting out of the house. Today is another perfect day out! The sun is shining and there's just enough breeze. It was wonderful!
The kids have each had a chance to talk to some friends today. Avery has a kids messenger app that she can talk to a few girls from school on. I really hesitated a lot on whether or not to set it up for her, but finally decided to go ahead. She's enjoying it. She can play games with her friends and there are a lot of fun filters she can put on to make her face look crazy. Sometimes I think she and her friends aren't really talking at all, just watching themselves in the silly filters. Connor wanted to talk to a friend today too. This is the first time he's asked to. It took over a month, but I think my little introvert is finally missing his friends. We tried to do Facebook video chat with his friend, but mom couldn't get it to work on her phone. So we ended up just calling him, old school style. Avery struggles with the regular phone calls a bit more, not really knowing what to say to people with lots of long pauses where people think she's hung up. Connor does better, though. He's talking about board games, video games, and his pets. It's pretty cute.
Nothing new to report in the garden area. My seedlings were outside most of the day, but when they got in the sun for a while they might have started getting too toasty and dry. So even though it hadn't been 8 hours yet, I brought them in and gave them a drink. Hopefully that perks them up quickly. No news from the big garden either. I'm anxious to get my seeds growing, but I just worry that they won't. I've never been exceptionally good at growing seeds... We'll see. If nothing else, this coming weekend I'd like to see family if everyone thinks that's safe, and after we've done that, I might go back to the nurseries and garden centers and get some plants. I'll just have to wait and see. I'm impatient. I want to see things poking out of the ground the day after I plant them. They haven't, so now I'm ready to replace them, lol. I've got at least another week. We'll see how the seeds end up doing in that time....
We grilled last night for dinner. Wal-Mart finally had chicken in stock again last weekend, so I got a 5 lb package and we made a little last night while the rest went in the freezer. We also grilled asparagus. I know I had Michael pick some up before Easter, but we might have already had some in the fridge at the time. Then, this week, I got my improper produce order, and I ordered 2 bunches of asparagus because it's my favorite veggie to grill. So last night we had 4 bunches in the fridge! 😳😳 Needless to say, we grilled asparagus with the chicken! I think we'll be grilling a lot more soon since the weather is warming upm so since we're only going to the grocery store once every couple of weeks, having some asparagus saved back isn't a bad idea. I still haven't had lunch yet, maybe I'll throw the asparagus and chicken into a salad! Yum!
I can't think of other things that I haven't mentioned yet, so I'm going to go through pictures from the last couple days and see if there's anything else I've forgotten....
Laid out in the hammock last night after dinner. It was wonderful! 💗
Look how cute they are! Avery, especially, is loving dinners on the deck! She is very helpful getting things out and setting the table. It's really nice being out there together. 💗
Oh man! Check out my delicious omelette I made yesterday! Grilled peppers and onions, pepperjack cheese, sprinkled with tomatoes, slices of avocado, and green onion! Yum! it totally hit the spot! I think I'll make another one tomorrow! Today Michael and I had avocado toast for breakfast, which was also super yummy!
Welp, that's all I've got for now. I'm posting from the computer on the deck again. My pictures are on my phone and apparently it takes a bit for the pics to become available on the computer. Maybe I'll try to post again this evening and get some of the pictures from today uploaded. We'll see. Anyway, I hope you're having a nice day. Will talk to you all more tomorrow or maybe later tonight! Love ya!
