COVID-19 Quarantine Day 32 - Finally caught up to today!

I didn't have work and the kids didn't have school today.  It was supposed to be an inservice day.  Even though the Butler County Special Education Co-Op is paying all of the paras through the end of the year, this was a day that wasn't considered on our schedule, so we're not getting paid for today.  That's fine with me.  After a few days on the go, I'm ready for another day of rest.  My busy days for work are Tuesday-Thursday anyway.  So I didn't do any work today and I didn't make the kids do any schoolwork.  What I did do was go out and get seeds and plants for my garden!!  I waited until after Saturday to go out and do all this shopping because I wanted to be able to see Mama and Daddy this weekend.  Now that I've gone out to a few different stores I plan to stay home for the next couple of weeks (we even got stocked up on groceries today) so that soon enough we'll be able to see them again.  <3

The first place I went today was Valley Feed and Seed.  It's my favorite place to shop for plants and gardening things.  It's also where we go for grass seed and where Michael got his crabgrass preventative this year.  The people there are extremely friendly and knowledgeable.  It's the place where Grandpa Heorman gets his plants and I saw a couple old farmers there while I was there, so that's a pretty good sign of a quality store, in my opinion.  I got almost all of the seeds I needed from there!  I also got seeds for some flowers.  I asked them if I should plant seeds or plants if I wanted to have flowers in my garden with my vegetables and they suggested seeds.  Works for me!  I get a lot more bang for my buck with seeds!  I also got a couple tomato plants, a couple pepper plants, a strawberry plant, a bundle of asparagus crowns, a bag of onion sets, and a 4 pack of broccoli plants!  It went very well!  But there was more on my list, so I was off to Atwoods next!

Atwoods was where I got my 4 tomato plants, jalepeno plant, and spinach plant a couple weeks ago.  Remember that spinach plant that Gabby ate?  Yeah, it's not going to make it.  I also got herb seeds from there.  Surprisingly, they haven't done real great.  Even inside!  I'm kind of surprised by that.  Hopefully they'll do better once I plant them in the ground in the garden.  Anyway, at Atwoods I got a gypsy pepper plant and a few more packages of seeds.  Not as much as I expected to get there, but every little bit helps!  Next up, Menards!

At Menards I found several of the things I needed and a couple things I didn't.  I found cauliflower plants, 2 different varieties of strawberry plants, and two hanging baskets of flowers, one with petunias, one with pansies.  I didn't go to Menards planning on buying flowers, but the hanging baskets were only $5!!  I couldn't help myself!  They're going to look great hanging on the arbor!!  Now I just have to wait for the weather to warm up so I can take them outside.  Last stop, Lowe's!

At Lowe's I didn't find exactly what I was looking for, but what I found was close enough.  I was still looking for lettuces.  I wanted romaine and spinach.  I had a lot of success with spinach last year.  My head lettuce got overshadowed by the broccoli and cauliflower last year and ended up dying off before I could do anything with it.  Hopefully this year goes better.  I couldn't find any spinach plants I liked.  I didn't buy more spinach plants from Atwoods because the one I have is about dead and I haven't even got to put it in the ground.  Now, given, it's not all the plant's fault, Gabby didn't help, but still, I wanted to try something different.  So at Lowe's I got a 6 pack of romaine and a 6 pack of head lettuce.  I'm hopeful that they'll do will with no big plants starving them of light.  We'll see.

And that's all I got!  Not so bad!  In all, I spent about 2.5 hours out looking for plants and seeds.  I have a really nice haul to show for it!  :-D  Check it out!

It looks like so much more when I spread it all out and add my 5 other plants to the mix!  My seedlings aren't even shown here!  Overall, today was a fabulous day of rest and garden planning!  By next weekend, hopefully I'll have some little plants in the beds!!  Can't wait!!!
