Hey guys, how are you today? I hope you've gone outside to enjoy the beautiful weather because today is absolutely perfect! I'm writing to you from the deck because it is just too wonderful to not be outside today. Michael is mowing and it smells like summer. I have my music blaring out here and it's carrying over the lawn mower, it's just perfect. Sunday has a way of being perfect like that.
In case you're wondering, my garden is doing well. 😉 I planted corn today. When I was teaching my kindergarten group about Native Americans around Thanksgiving we talked about how the had a story about 3 sisters and it related to their planting. The three sisters are corn, beans, and squash. The corn is the first planted. When it's about 6 inches tall, you plant beans around the corn. The beans grow up the corn stalks. The third plant is squash, which adds living mulch to the soil and shades the lower part of the plants. The prickly vines of the squash also keep pests away. I'm going to give this planting method a try. Why not? So yesterday I started soaking my corn kernels, and today I planted them! I'm excited to see how it goes. Also, I've never tried corn at all, so I'm anxious to see how it goes.
Not much else going on since yesterday. We have started making Sunday our "chores" day. We've been doing laundry and dishes, really cleaning the house up well before we get the week started. Michael's mowing today because yesterday we just rested. It's going pretty well. I don't make the kids do much. I want them to be able to relax ad play and enjoy their weekend.
I really want to get some digital game nights put together. I've been trying to do some research on how to make that happen. I haven't found the perfect game that will appeal to everyone yet. But I'm going to keep working on it. Hopefully I can get something figured out this week and we can start to make those happen. We'll see how it goes.
Alrighty, well I really don't have much more to say. Life it good here. We're getting along ok. We miss you guys and wish we could see and hug you more. Hang in there, and be good to one another! Love you!
