Guys, I ran out of coffee creamer today. I already ran out of half and half. Michael got out the back up powdered creamer. But that's not the only thing...
I was making a recipe on Friday and finished the milk. We've been out of bread for a few days, but I have enough stuff to make my own, which I have been. We've made 2 loaves so far. They've been pretty good. 😊
What this whole thing has taught me is that while I shop weekly for things that are running low, I think when I do buy something, I buy enough for more than a week, probably closer to 2 weeks worth. Milk is usually something I buy weekly, bread usually goes in the freezer for when we get low, as does meat. And we've been getting shipments of unpopular produce delivered to the house every 2 weeks for a couple months before the coronavirus hit. But we're not going out and getting anything until after next weekend in an effort to be able to see a few family members around Easter, so we're just going to start getting creative with the meals. 😉
I made a butternut squash casserole on Friday. It is super tasty! Friday was cold and rainy and yucky out, so this meal really warmed from the inside out. Plus, I had 3 butternut squash I needed to use and the recipe called for 3 lbs of it, so win-win! It has butternut squash, onions, shallots, bread cubes, egg/milk mixture, and cheese. Turned out really good! I don't love it as much as my stuffed mushrooms or the smoked gouda broccoli soup, but this one is pretty good too. And it made a lot of food, so I can take a few meals off from cooking.
We also did our part stimulating the local economy last night and got some pizza delivered!! We got a pizza from Dominoes because I had a couple for a free medium 2 topping pizza that was expiring yesterday. I know Dominoes isn't a local place, but the delivery person is local, and since the pizza was free (save delivery fee, which doesn't go to the driver, ironically) we tipped well. From Michael and I, we did have local pizza. Ziggy's has a family deal going on right now, any 2 pizzas plus an order of Ziggy's bites (baked dough, pepperoni, and mozzarella) for $25. So we got that! Michael and I each picked a pizza. Michael got the Cheese Johnsom and said it was the best pizza he'd ever had. 😱
Michael loves pizza, ya'll! So this is EXTREMELY high praise! If you haven't been to Ziggy's before or lately, consider calling them and placing a carryout order. Or, if you're local, you can have it delivered through GrubHub. The Ziggy's bites were just ok to me, but I'm not big on pepperoni. The kids and Michael, however, polished them all off fast!
My pizza was the White Delight. It had a cream cheese sauce instead of a red sauce. It also had chicken, bacon, onion, and green peppers! It was delicious!! It didn't have sausage on it, so Michael tried it too and liked it. 😊 Needless to say, we're going to have enough pizza to eat for a bit. Also, I think I'm the only one eating it, but my pasta salad with all the veggies and ranch is still super tasty and I'm slowly working it down. I thought it looked so pretty the other day in my fiestaware cup with all the different colored veggies, I just had to take another picture! Lol!
Alright, there's a couple more things I want to talk about that happened on Friday, but I'm afraid I'm getting too many pictures in one blog and I don't want it to crash, so I think I'll go ahead and post and save the rest for the next blog!
