After we got all done taking pictures in our fancy clothes, we all got back in our comfy clothes. It's a wonder they're not falling to pieces because we hardly ever get out of them anymore. Seriously, keep an eye on the kids in my pictures from day to day, you might notice the same outfit over and over. Connor does a little better about changing periodically, but Avery will get a pair of jammies she likes and refuse to come out of them. I know the ones she's in right now she put on on Saturday. Just saying... Anyways, we got into comfy clothes and went out to take family pictures again...
After we got done with pictures, we went downstairs to watch church. I think this is the 4th week or so that we've watched church online. I'm sure I've said this in previous blogs, but I'm surprised at how well the kids are staying tuned in to the message. Plus we have kids lessons to do with them, so church takes longer than it normally would on a Sunday at church. But they do a really good job. I'm super proud of them. Because it was Easter, I also let them each have a piece of candy from their baskets while we watched church. True to kid nature, they grabbed the biggest pieces they could find. :-P
After church was over, we got to work getting lunch ready. Michael tried his best to grill for us, but it just wasn't in the cards. Besides the fact that it was extremely cold outside (he wore his coat out and was still really cold), the wind made it impossible to get the grill lit. He really tried, even propped a big cardboard box around him and the grill, trying to keep the wind out, but it was too crazy. I was even a little worried about my chandeliers at one point, the big heavy one was really swinging! So anyway, we ended up making hotdogs and brats on the George Foreman grill inside. We didn't have the asparagus or zucchini that I intended because, again, we just couldn't make the grill work. So we had hotdogs and a bag of Funyuns, and everyone was ok with that.
After lunch we let the kids go downstairs and watch the old claymation "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" while Michael and I cleaned up the upstairs and hid eggs. Then we called the kids up to hunt eggs. They had a blast! Some of the eggs were a little tricky, but as far as I know they (eventually) found them all.
After that, my phone died, but Michael kept taking pictures. In the end, they both had a bucket full of eggs! It was lots of fun! Michael said his egg hunts used to always be inside the house, so this was just how he remembered it. Our family has always done the outdoor hunt, so it seemed weird hiding them indoors this year, but the last month has been weird, so I guess we're on par.
After the egg hunt, the kids went back downstairs to watch some more TV. I let them take their baskets of candy and didn't tell them they could only have one piece. Live a little, right? Michael and I played some games and then I decided to take donuts. Someone on my facebook had posted a picture of the donuts they had made and it inspired me! Theirs were biscuit donuts. I have made those before and let me just say... Just because you cut it into a donut shape does not make it a donut! Do you know what that makes it? A biscuit with a hole in the middle. Not the same thing. I made legit, yeast donuts, with glaze and all! And they were amazing! I made some in the air fryer and some were baked They were all super tasty though!
I realized just how much candy the children had eaten downstairs when I called them up and told them the donuts were ready. I had kept it a secret and hadn't told them I was making donuts, so I expected them to bound up the stairs, drooling for donuts. They came up, but neither of them wanted one!!! :-O Yeah, it's safe to say they ate too much candy yesterday, but it was just one of those days were ya gotta!
And that was about it for our day. We relaxed and snacked and had a really nice day. We definitely missed family though. It was weird staying home on Easter. No church, no family, no leaving. I'm just really thankful that we got to see Mama and Daddy the day before that! It was a much more beautiful day anyway!
