COVID-19 Quarantine Day 52 - Saturday Happenings

Good Morning, Everyone!  I hope you had a nice Saturday!  I didn't blog because we were too busy doing family stuff all day.  Here are some highlights of our day...

When the kids woke up, I was already up and in the shower.  They started the day like they like to start every weekend morning and crawled into our bed.  Connor wanted to snuggle and Avery wanted to have a tickle fight.  Michael became the wall between them, snuggling with Connor on one side and attacking/repelling Avery's attacks on the other side.  This is our life.  😂

After I got out of the shower and dressed (in real clothes, as it was a special day, my weekly shower) I made breakfast for the fam.  We had bacon and egg sandwiches in different configurations.  Connor didn't want bacon, Avery wanted only bacon, then decided she'd go ahead and take egg too if it could have American cheese on it, Michael and Connor wanted ketchup, Michael and I wanted bacon and egg but no cheese because we're out of Swiss.  We ate our breakfast out on the upper deck.  We listened to music, mostly Disney covers, Greatest Showman covers, metal versions of Disney songs, punk versions of Disney songs, Disney mashups with other Disney songs, Disney mashups with regular songs, Mashups of Disney villain songs, more Johnathon Young songs, more Sam Tsui songs, Lindsey Stirling, funny old songs that Michael and I discovered in college, and other stuff like that.  Check out the links, they're super fun/beautiful/different.  I recommend each and every song!  Avery really likes the one from college.  Michael really likes Lindsey Stirling.  Connor would really like it if we would listen to the regular Disney songs instead.  😂😂😂

After breakfast I went out to work on/check on my garden.  I have both zucchini seeds and both yellow squash seeds coming up in box 3 now!!  I'll have to get some pictures today to post, they were getting close to sprouting yesterday, if the sun goes ahead and comes out this morning, I think they'll pop the rest of the way out!  😁  The corn is growing like weeds!  It needs to be about 6 inches tall before I'm supposed to plant the beans around them.  I think by next weekend I'll be doing that.  Also, I think one of my corn kernels that I soaked ended up washing down the little hill and growing there.  I'm not entirely sure, but I'm pretty sure that's what's at the bottom there.  It's spaced well from the rest of the corn though, so I'm planning on just leaving it.  I think the same thing happened with a cucumber.  They were originally planted on a small hill, but now I have a cucumber who's growing in the crack where the dirt pulls away from the edge of the box when it gets dry.  I guess I know that one will probably never be wanting for water...  Some of my lettuce seedlings are coming up, as well as more marigolds in box 1.  There are a few places where I don't know what the plant (usually herbs) that I planted should look like, so at the moment I'm letting everything, including weeds, grow without pulling anything until I decide what should be there and what shouldn't.  I have a whole lot of, what looks like, grass this year that I don't remember dealing with last year.  I remember the little seeds off of the trees over the garden, but not the grass.  I think something may have been in the soil I got delivered.  So I've been pulling weeds and grass daily to keep things at bay.  When I work on it daily, it never gets too bad at one time.

Michael also pruned the trees back a little for me, away from the garden.  There are still tall branches hanging over the garden that he couldn't get to, even when he added big metal poles to his trimming sheers to add torque and length.  But the garden should be getting at least a little more sun now.  He also pulled up the bind weed and the various other weeds and sapplings that were right next to the fence and the garden.  I laid out in the sun while he was working and burnt my back and the back of my legs.  Not too bad, as I was only out for a little over an hour, but I am extremely pale at the moment.  Guess that's what I get for laying out in the sun while he works on my garden for me.  😂😂

It got pretty warm yesterday!  I want Spring and all, but I don't want to skip straight to summer!  Mid-day we came in and enjoyed the AC, rested from the sun zapping us all, and watched some TV.  Sis had told me she bought the new, animated Addam's Family movie and that it was on her Amazon account, so I logged in and let the kids watch that.  They liked it a lot.  Meanwhile, Michael and I finally got around to watching the new Parks and Rec special that was released on Thursday.  We had Lifegroup at that time, so we couldn't watch it live.  I just have to say, it was done so incredibly well!  It made me so so happy!  I donated money when it was all over because it was so good and a good cause, and, I think, the actors are good people for coming back together to put this on for the sake of helping others.  It was just good, all around!  Loved it!  Then Michael and I were singing 5000 Candles in the Wind for the rest of the evening.  I asked Michael to play it at my funeral.  He said he couldn't because he plans on dying first.  So I texted Sis and asked her to play it at my funeral.  Her reply: "Definitely."  I knew I could count on her!  😉

We grilled for dinner, on request of the kids.  We made Kippy Burgers, Hotdogs, and Grilled Asparagus.  It was delicious, as always!  Michael added some grated Parmesan cheese to the Kippy Burger mixture this time as well.  I couldn't taste the parm, but they still mght have been the best batch of Kippy burgers we've ever whipped up.  So good!  It also might have been Michael's homemade BBQ sauce in them too, I don't know.  All I know is that they were delicious!

After dinner, Michael started getting out the outdoor movie projector stuff.  The kids were really excited!  Of course, the movie wasn't enough for my girl, so she kept asking Michael to build a fire in the fire pit and put them tent up.  Unfortunately, all the got was the movie last night.  But she also got some popcorn and a couple things of candy, so she was pretty happy.  Then she saw the neighbors out on their front lawn and went to invite them to join us in watching the movie.  They explained to her that they were having a birthday party and offered her and Connor a piece of cake.  Then they said after the party was over, they'd come check it out.  So the kids also got chocolate cake to go with their movie, which, I'm pretty sure, they ate with their fingers.  😂  About 30 minutes or so into the movie (we watched Mulan because it's one of Michael's and my favorites) 3 teen/preteen girls came into our back yard to join us for the movie.  It was dark by then, so I couldn't even tell who they were, only make out shapes.  Michael thinks it was the neighbor girl and 2 of her friends.  Anyway, they sat down behind Avery and Connor, who were laying on some blankets they had laid out, and watched the rest of the movie with us.  The kids and the girls talked about how they liked this movie and Avery went in and got them each a FunDip to enjoy with the movie.  It was fun and nice.  After the movie was over, the girls left and as we were bringing everything back into the house Avery said her favorite part of the night was when the big kids came over.  😊💗  I think she's pretty starved for interaction with people other than her family, but then again, she's always been a social little butterfly, so even if everything was normal in the world, that would have probably been her favorite part.  I told Michael that it was just what we needed in the world right now, to have the neighbors over to watch a movie outdoors with us and maintain that sense of community and togetherness.  The girls and the kids, I'm certain, were not thinking so deeply about an outdoor movie invitation.  That's fine.  Just made me happy.  Avery is a lot like me.  The event was fun and all, but it was the people there who really made it special.  💗💗💗

So it was after 10, maybe closer to 1030 before the kids got to bed last night.  But that's working in our favor today because it's almost 9 now and they're still asleep.  😉  So that's how our day went yesterday.  I hope yours was good as well, and I hope you have a terrific Sunday!  Love you!
