The Chili is complete! Post #4

Sorry I didn't finish the Chili recipe for you guys last night!  I finished it up and then we ran off to Life Group and I didn't get back on the blog after that.  Fortunately, there's not much left to tell.  After the 45 minutes of cooking/thickening/incorporating flavors you add 2 cans of red kidney beans, drained and rinsed.  Then cook 15 more minutes with the lid on and 15 more minutes with the lid off.  Now you're done!

As I mentioned, Michael is taking this to work in the crockpot, so I ended up adding another 1/2 cup water and 1/2 of a beef bullion cube to keep it from drying out too much.  He put it on low when he got to work at 7-730ish, to get it heated up.  People are going to start eating at 11, he'll turn it down to warm from 11-1 while people eat.  Hopefully that keeps it tasting good.  :)

Wish me luck!  The person who's recipe is the favorite wins 50% of the money people pay to eat and vote ($5 for a bowl, $1 to vote).  Second place wins 30% and third wins 20%.  Winning doesn't matter so much to me, although the bragging rights are pretty fun.  ;)  I just hope to make back the money we spend on lunch and some of the money for the ingredients.  ;)  I suppose we'll just have to wait and see!

My awesome Mama is coming over today to watch the kids so I can go and have lunch with Michael (quietly).  :)  Looking forward to some kid free time with him, even if it is just to eat chili in his break room.  :P  I might even run to Cinnabon and get cinnamon rolls for he and me to eat with our chili!  Because if you grew up eating school lunches in Kansas, you know this is the only acceptable way to eat chili.  ;)
