November 14 - Thankful for the little extras

Being a single income family means we have to be particular about the things we do and the activities we get involved in.  I am on the email mailing list for a group called "Wichita on the Cheap".  They keep people updated on free and cheap activities going on around town.  I love it!  I love doing stuff with the kids, but we need to be ever mindful of the price tag.  We love our memberships to different places, like the zoo and Exploration Place because we can pay the admission price for our family twice (basically) and get in all year long.  And they are great, educational places!  Mama and Daddy have a Botanica membership that we can use as well!  If I could think of another place to get a membership to, I'd add it to our Christmas list, but those two are the big ones in town.  I also love that we have Avery in gymnastics!  It's significantly more expensive than the zoo or Exploration Place, but she loves it a lot!  She's got great balance and flexibility thanks to the class.  She's even learning to do cartwheels!  At four!!!  I think that's super cool!  I hope she sticks with it!  But if she doesn't, that's ok too.  Just want her to find something she's happy with.  We had Connor in gymnastics for a bit too, but he wasn't as excited as Avery was, so we stopped putting him in lessons.  He still goes with us every Monday night, but doesn't seem to mind that he doesn't get to participate.  I love being able to do fun stuff with the kids, especially here, around town, in Wichita.  I appreciate all that the city and various businesses so to make things cheap and affordable for families like ours!  We're looking forward to a fun-filled holiday season here in Wichita!  :D
