So we have been reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with the kids for the last several months. Last week they finally finished the book, so we made plans to watch the movie! But when we watch HP movies, we don't simply sit down and watch them! We make snacks, themed foods, and dress up! We grab out wands and our stuffed animals and we hunker down to watch every movie, with the last one being the newest one in the group. This time, the kids were up to movie #4. So we started watching HP around 8am and finished just before 7pm! It was quite a day! Here are some pictures from our fun!
This is the "trolley" from the Hogwarts Express, with all sorts of junk and snacks on it! Every time the kids were on the train, as well as between movies, I'd say, "Anything off the trolley, Dears?" That was everyone's cue to go grab a few more snacks off the cart if they wanted.
In the first movie Harry has to make breakfast and bring Uncle Vernon his coffee. So Saturday morning I told the kids to make breakfast and not burn anything. I made Connor bring me coffee too before we could start the movies. 🤣 He didn't like me taking pictures, but I eventually convinced him. 😉
Connor got Rowena Ravenclaw (one of the four Hogwarts founders, and original head of Ravenclaw house) in his first chocolate frog!
Snuggles! I help him hide his eyes during the scary parts. After 4 movies, the only thing that scares him is Professor Quirrel/Voldemort at the end of Movie #1.
Avery loves candy! I didn't even limit her on movie marathon day! She didn't feel super awesome by the end of the day. Such is life on movie marathon days... 🤢
Hagrid's Garden lunch! We've learned long ago that you need some non-junk on movie marathon days to balance everything out. These delicious salads REALLY hit the spot! And there were no complaints from the kids either! 😊
Helga Hufflepuff! I made the chocolate frogs, boxes, and cards! They're a very special treat for each marathon!
It was a great day! Fun was had by all! Now onto the next book, Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix! And, conveniently enough, we have a couple very long car rides ahead of us to dive into the audio books! Fingers crossed we can finish the next 3 books in the next year so the kids will know the whole story before we go to Orlando! Can't wait!
